Color in Feng Shui…the issue is balance
You will notice that each section of the Bagua Map has an associated color. Colors in Feng Shui are representative of certain energies. They also represent the five elements of the Bugua map. Color balances our aura if used correctly and therefore is seen as an important factor in the balance of our environment. The color associated with a segment of the Bagua Map when used in that area should enhance the associated aspect of your life.
When color is used to achieve the balance it should be done with a sensitivity to each person associated with the environment to be balanced and how they feel toward the color. As with the cultural diversity related to color mentioned above, each individual may have associations you should consider before determining a color related cure.
An entire home could be balanced with an intelligent color adjustment. It is certainly one of the easiest and least expensive energy “cures”. The key is to use some of all of the various elements or their counterparts to achieve balance. You may choose to use one rainbow piece to balance all the elements at once.
When balancing yin or yang aspects of an environment, the brightness or softness if the color used is the issue. You may want an area to be more yin and use pastels or you may need yang energy and paint in vibrant colors.
The yang (active) rooms are the living room, the kitchen, the dining room, the family room, game room, and the office. The yin rooms are the bedrooms and the bathrooms. For example, you will avoid painting your bedroom a bright color, if you want peaceful sleep. If you wanted to add wood, (green and blue) to a bedroom it would be in paler colors, but in the office it could be brighter and more dominant colors.
Use color to:
Balance a missing element in an area.
Draw in a missing area in room or building.
Make an area more yin or more yang.
